I didn’t see Mulan because I was a child more fond of books back then (which is why I watch anime a lot more right now to compensate), but I did read the Woman Warrior, an appropriation of that female soldier.
Disney’s really good at sanitizing stuff. Goddamn.

@elaine:yeah its weird, but this is an anime/philosophy blog, so what isn’t weird here
@michael:yeah i know they bastardize and sanitize, but if you go back and watch old disney movie they are incredibly violent. I had to write a rogerian argument in response to a newspaper article for my english class and I chose this article about how disney makes immoral films and we should boycott disney and miramax…needless to say in my paper I tore that dude a new asshole, and yet my teacher gave me a 95 on it.
